Window privacy by day and night: what film can do
Why the reflective effect changes when lights are on, and when to consider frosted film or curtains.
Check lighting on both sides
The reflective effect depends on the lighting difference. When it is brighter outside, reflection may obscure the interior. Bright indoor lighting in the evening changes that condition. A daytime sample is therefore not enough to promise privacy around the clock.
Choose the view you need
If you want an outside view, assess reflective film by day and a separate evening solution. Where a view is unnecessary, consider frosted film. It changes visibility in both directions; test silhouettes at the actual distance. Meeting rooms can also use agreed bands or selected areas.
Prepare your selection enquiry
Explain where the interior is visible from: the street, a neighbouring window or a corridor. Include the time of day, distance and whether you need to see out. Daytime and evening photos help discuss options, but an on-glass sample is the better way to assess the final effect.
